Origin
Clay is extracted from a sedimentary rock, consisting of small particles accumulated and deposited in the soil over thousands of years.
Clay's ability to be molded when mixed in the right proportion of water, and to harden after firing allowed it to be used in home construction, household vessels, and even writing paper. Burnt clay is called ceramics.
